More details Urban Shots Bright Lights is a dismal collection, barring a handful stories. The Interview by Manisha Lakhe and The Pig in a Poke by Mydhili Varma are just the best in the collection. These two stories are unpredictable, dramatic, funny, and reflect on the relationships formed in this day and age.

The others in the collection titled Heaven and Hell, Father of My Son, Good Morning Nikhil, Maami Menace, and Jo Dikhta Hain Woh Bikta Hain are half-baked. They might be good attempts but not good stories. They are sometimes predictable, sometimes too clichéd and sometimes do not convey anything. Amul is however not great but a good, sensitive portrayal of modern-day relationships through a child’s eyes who sees domestic violence and forms her own conclusions on it. Double Mixed is again a good attempt; how I wish it was narrated better.

Buy the collection if you will; however do not hope to be consistently entertained!
