But in spite of her awkward manner and low expectations, she finds that her new classmates are drawn to this pale, dark-haired new girl in town. But not, it seems, the Cullen family. These five adopted brothers and sisters obviously prefer their own company and will make no exception for Bella.

More details Twilight is a novel about romance between a vampire and a human meant for young-adults. Written by Stephenie Meyer, the first book of the series was originally rejected by 14 agents but instantly became a bestseller when published in 2005.
When her mother decides to travel with her new husband, seventeen year old Isabella ‘Bella’ Swan moves to the rainy Forks from the sunny Phoenix to live with her father, Charlie. The shy but pretty Bella attracts much attention in the new school and is soon befriended by several but soon finds herself attracted to a mysterious boy, Edward Cullen, who seems infuriated by her mere presence. She confronts him but gets no answers and it is only after a family friend, Jacob, tells her about the local tribe legends that she concludes that the guy and his family were vampires. What follows is an enchanting tale about their love and the dangers they face due to her being a human whose blood is usually desired by vampires.
The plot is simple, characters are predictable and static and the story moves very slow until the chase starts but the end makes one want to go on to the next novel in the series. The writing is fairly shallow but it is still an enjoyable read which makes one engrossed in the magical world of vampires.

More details This book, the first of the four part series, reached pop-cult status as soon as it came out. Centered around Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, this is a modern day fairytale of two people who should never have fallen in love. Bella Swan has just moved to rainy Forks and hates it there. On her first day of high school, where she is absolutely dreads being the center of attention, she meets Edward Cullen, her lab partner. He seems curiously repulsed by her and makes every attempt to first not sit close to her and then have his class changed. When all of these attempts don’t work, they develop an unusual friendship. What Bella doesn’t know but strongly suspects is the fact that Edward isn’t human but a Vampire. When she does discover the truth, she realizes that even though Edward is drawn to the smell of her blood, being a ‘vegetarian’ vampire (they only eat animals) she is quite safe with him. While their relationship is blossoming, Bella gets marked by a tracker from another vampire coven. He attempts to kill her and Edward like any true knight in shining armor comes to her timely rescue.
The author’s style borders on the unusual with the pace being very languid and laid back. The best aspect of this story is the fact that she builds the characters through the course of the novel and lets them grow. Ironically, the story comes across as very believable and hence, the obsession of young girls with the near-perfect Edward Cullen makes just the right amount of sense to anyone who has read twilight.
