Tongue in cheek, the doctor draws from his quarter century of experience, a cocktail of thoughts and emotions aimed at the moments of truth in a doctor’s life. A remarkably candid book, it looks at the aspirations that lead individuals to enter this field, the medical education, the profession of medicine in recent years, the attitudes of patients towards treatment and the doctors, and, importantly, the increasing role of commercial motives in shaping all of this.

More details A humorous account of the life of people in the field of medicine, The Wrong Prescription outlines the aspirations of many people of the field.
The commercialization of the profession (as shown by many a movies) and its effect in real life (shown in a fictional account narrative) keeps you laughing throughout.
The author has encapsulated incidents from his life (and his friends/colleague’s life too) to shed light on the ethical as well as the corporate aspect of the profession. Real life incidents are pepped up and sprinkled with wit and humor and presented in a way that is bound to invoke laughter. It also reflects the psyche of Indian patients and their perceptions about Indian doctors as people who only want to point out medical ailments among them (patients) just to extract money. Well, it is partially true that bigger medical centres have become highly commercial and profit oriented and talk of technological advancements and high-end machines used for the treatment of patients. But at the same time charge the patients obnoxiously high fees.
The writing is pretty fresh and highly entertaining. The incidents included will make you chuckle at every instance. A very crisp and short and fast paced book that you would be able to finish in a jiffy. A very candid and honest approach. Totally worth reading.
