More details The plot of the book reminds me of the stories publish in the local newspaper and Hindi Magazines meant for the entertainment of housewives .The narrative is amateurish , lacks noveltyand fails to inspire interest in the book. Though i didn’t expect much from the self acclaimed celebrity " Chetan Bhagat" and the read was more due to lack of options in the local library , the entire content proved to be a sheer waste of time and energy.
However, the main reason for my discontent is that though the author has brought several thought provoking issues in the book ranging from corruption in our education system to narrow acceptance of the society limited to accepting IIT and AIEEE students and discarding mediocre students as piece of garbage , he has somehow failed to capture them and bring out a positive message for the society and create a actual revolution . In his foul attempt to concoct another bestseller, he has blend the rich context with the most ordinary plot and by focussing more on stale love story, rivalry and infidelity has produced a vapid book.
In all, i will not recommend this book even just to pass time and if u r facing lack of options, better but local magazines and satisfy ur reader's appetite

More details A good work done by Chetan Bhagat.. Gopal has a little bit gray shade character but at last it's turn in a positive way. It's a good tale in between of ambtion and wish. I really like this book but it's little low in compare of "2 STATE".The tagline (“Love. Corruption. Ambition.”) refers to the key themes of the book. Revolution 2020 is foremost a love story, in fact a love triangle, as both Gopal and Raghav love the same girl. Corruption, particularly in the education sector, is the backdrop of the story. All three characters have strong ambitions, and how they go about achieving them also forms a big part of the story.

According to Chetan Bhagat, story covers corruption in the education sector but in light and entertain way as he has done for previous books.

But over all it has a good taste so go for it!!!

The bookkk takess u to the crowded city of Banaras.
Itzz such a story in fact a luv story in which in the end u cannot judge which of the character (Arti, Gopal or Ragha)iss the ideal and the perfect one. It livess u with a question and delemma of the behaviour of Gopal in the end.

More details Chetan Bhagat’s latest novel Revolution 2020 did not satisfy me as a reader. With a decent pace at the beginning the plot and the pace just drops towards the middle till the end.
This love triangle story has nothing exceptional. Very predictable moves and twists. The writing is a bit mature and hilarious at certain places. And that’s about it. A very average read.
For those who’d like to know a bit about the plot – Gopal, Raghav and Aarti are childhood friends, staying in Varanasi. They grow up together and the love triangle forms. Gopal loves Aarti who in turn loves Raghav. Since the trio belong to the different social strata there is complexity. Gopal goes to lengths to win Aarti and in his struggle indulges in wrong means. Raghav, a righteous man, wishes to bring about a revolution with his morals and ethics. Aarti just dolls up more than half the times to sit pretty. Oh, btw she wants to be an air hostess.
Love, Corruption, Ambition are supposed to be the basis of the novel, but is seems like CB lost track of it all mid-way. The story becomes too boring and cinematic in its approach. I thought it would address the growing corruption in the country but sadly the novel fails to do that.
I wasn’t impressed by this one.

It opens with Mr. Chetan Bhagat visiting GangaTech College in Varanasi for a discourse. He meets Gopal and then we see Gopal pouring his heart out to Chetan Bhagat, under the influence of alcohol and a sad incident.

To give a background, this is a love triangle and it also brings out the corruption and facades of the education sector (with coaching classes mushrooming eveywhere, esp. for IIT, JEE and CAT exams).
Gopal belongs to a poor family. His friend Raghav belongs to a middle class family. And Aarti (Gopal’s love) belongs to the affluent section of society.
Gopal has to struggle all his life for everything. From making a decent living to taking the exams to claiming his love. Raghav on the other hand stands up to values and fights against the wrong-doings in society. Aarti is a rich girl with her good looks and charming smile and great lifestyle. The three have been friends from childhood. Gopal falls in love with Aarti, while she falls in love with Raghav.
Then comes the “Love, Corruption and Ambition” angle to the story.
Gopal wants to prove to Aarti that he is better than Raghav and he designs a plan to seek revenge in his own twisted way.
He ends up starting his own college and coaching classes for IIT aspirants and takes the generation under his stride. Raghav is an upright and morally/ethically righteous person who defies everything wrong and corrupt. And so the fight between the two takes place.
Quite a bit of the book was clichéd and predictable. The climax was, yes, a bit “feel-good-factor”. The language and the flow of the story is very simple. I would’ve preferred crisper editing.
But is it just me or do you also feel that the book read mostly like a movie script. I even imagined the actors playing the parts while reading this one.

More details On reading the tagline (Love. Corruption. Ambition.) I assumed that Chetan Bhagat was hinting at the current revolution against corruption that Anna Hazare has started that has gripped the country. But no- the backdrop of the story is the corruption that the education sector of the country is facing. At the forefront is a love triangle. And the characters (Gopal, Raghav and Aarti) seem to be the ones from Chetan Bhagat’s previous book.

The story shows Bhagat visiting a college in Varanasi, and by twist of fate ends up helping out Gopal as he pours his heart out to the author after one drunken night’s episode.
The story talks about the dreams, aspirations, perceptions and life of the three characters. Bhagat has tried to make this a light, entertaining read but at the same time bring to light the complexities and corruption in the education sector that most aspiring engineers (IIT fellows) are facing.
His points are precise and the language is simple enough that anyone would be able to understand it. It is not a very high quality work but definitely readable and worthy.
I was eagerly waiting for this one and I think it was worth the patience.

More details I found the premise of the book of Gopal meeting with an accident and narrating his story interesting. It was an interesting way to begin a novel. That was the only thing worth admiring in this whole book. But I do not agree with what Bhagat preaches here: It is okay to be mediocre. This is a theory that I do not buy and I feel no author should propagate. And I know why he says it is okay to be mediocre. No marks for guessing that he belongs to the same category… :( Sorry Chetan Bhagat for being nasty… Hide details

More details I seriously believe that Chetan Bhagat has darkled his own name by writing his fifth novel. I found the premise and the story line similar to The Three Mistakes Of My Life. The small town of Ahmedabad, the interest in business, success and making money by one of the protagonist is so similar to Gopal’s ideals and attitude towards life. Considering the 3 mistakes of my life was the worst novel by Chetan Bhagat why did Bhagat still make the mistake of writing something similar again. I repented my decision of spending my money on this one. Hide details

Chetan Bhagat’s much awaited one…and it truly delivers good entertainment.
This is the story of three friends who belong to Varanasi. Gopal, Raghav and Aarti. They’ve been friends since childhood but their personalities and upbringing are diverse. Gopal comes from a mediocre family and his only aim is to become rich. Raghav comes from a middle class (well to do) family and his desire is to change the world and remove corrupt. Aarti belongs to a very high class with political connections and all she wants to do is live a fancy life by being an air hostess.
Gopal is unable to get through the IIT exams and also loses out on Aarti’s love. This makes him a bitter person.
Both Gopal and Raghav are bright lads but their morals are different. In his struggle to become rich and show his worth, Gopal becomes a part of the corrupt system and mints money. Raghav stands up for what is right and braves the wrong. This is where the friends stand on either side of the line – the line that marks the right from the wrong – the corrupt from the principled. What happens next and how it is handled is what you should read and find out.
The author is merely listening to Gopal narrate his story to him. And in the end advices Gopal and does not judge him for his actions.

The tone of the book is a serious one. I wish there was some humor and wit- Chetan Bhagat style. But overall I simply loved the book! The characters were developed so well and felt so real. The situations are something we all can relate to. It is a very light and entertaining read. I’m glad I picked this one. You won’t regret reading it. Go ahead and get it soon!

I'm the first one here to write a review for this novel. Here goes my review:

Why have people made such a hue-and-cry about Chetan Bhagat’s latest (his fifth) novel- Revolution 2020? It really is not a big deal at-effing-all.
The novel begins with Chetan Bhagat visiting a certain college and a certain man (read: idiot) (Gopal) going gung-ho about the author’s visit and asking him to share a drink, just so that he could boast to his friends and acquaintances of having had a drink with “the” Chetan Bhagat.
Murphy’s Law is at play and Gopal ends up in a hospital after having gone overboard with his liquor. And since the author is the one who helps him to the hospital, the protagonist shares his (love) story with him.
Yes, what follows is the inevitable love triangle that is below average and not interesting at all. And of course, Gopal’s spiteful attitude to out-do the other male protagonist (Raghav) who won the heart of the girl Gopal was in love with (Aarti).
Towards the end we see Bhagat advising Gopal that being mediocre is alright and that he is a good person and that’s what matters most.

I don’t believe I read through the entire book only to be disappointed. No entertainment value in here. There were some points hurled at the coaching classes (for IIT and JEE and similar such courses) but at a point I wasn’t sure if Bhagat was praising them or criticizing them.
Yes the language is simple and easy, but the content is not up to the mark.
The only book I can ever appreciate by Bhagat is Five Point Someone. All the rest are aimed at the masses (including this one) with no real substance.

Please give it a skip while you still can. It doesn’t seem worthy of your time and money.
