More details A classic that I enjoyed start to finish. Great to be reminded of why Dickens is universally regarded as being one of the top twenty authors of all time . Yes it's his first novel, yes it was originally published in serial form, so it reads in nice complete thirty page blocks, many of which are comic set pieces. But when he sends you off on a detour to describe something, you know you can relax and go along for the ride--you are in the hands of a master, and you will be paid off. Nobody describes and establishes a minor character as lovingly, efficiently, or indelibly as Dickens. I was sorry when it ended. Hide details

More details Charles Dickens was a famous English poet and novelist. “Pickwick papers” is a delightful and simple novel which ensures complete entertainment. One of the most important aspects of this book is that, it was written by Charles Dickens in 1836, when he was only 24 years old.
The storyline revolves around a wide range of incidents that occur in Mr. Samuel Pickwick and his friend’s lives. An associate known as the united Pickwikians, meet on a given day to decide upon the duty of their president, Samuel Pickwick. The association comes to a conclusion that Mr. Pickwick is to share his prudence, knowledge and learning with the utmost ardor for the benefit of mankind. A travelling branch of their association is formed known as the corresponding society of the Pickwick club, in which each member at their own cost could carry on their work as long as they pleased. At the end of the travel the members were supposed to send in their reports to the Pickwick club in London, based on what they observed and investigated.
“Pickwick Papers” has caught attention because it was Dickens first novel that was widely acclaimed by the public. There is a good deal of laughter in this book which is able to tickle the reader’s sense of humor.
