Mainak Dhar: Interview by BookChums

Post by: Kabita Sonowal

September 17, 2012, Pune, India: BookChums interviewed Mainak Dhar, novelist and short-story writer. He has written The Martyr (Labyrinth Short Stories), Alice in Deadland, Zombiestan, Vimana, Heroes are us, and The Cubicle Manifesto. The Martyr from Labyrinth Short Stories was inspired by the child soldiers of the Iran-Iraq war. Set against the backdrop of today's chaos-ridden Afghanistan, he unfolds a story that illustrates the urgent need for universal peace and the futility of ravage and destruction. In this interview, he discussed his current writings, his favorite pieces of literature and his advice to aspiring authors straight-from-the-heart.

Labyrinth – Short Stories is a short story collection by budding authors from all walks of life and professions. The stories and themes are diverse, ranging from modern-day conflict-ridden Afghanistan, the heart of North India, Ancient Greece to many other landscapes and backdrops. The uniqueness of the book lies in narration of coming-of-age stories.
