Ask Kabita #28: Our Book Recommendation Expert

Post by: BookChums

Hello bookworms, thankfully the fierce Pune summer of last week has waned a bit and it is not unpleasant to step out in the evenings. It also implies that the weather during the day is most suitable for reading books. Here is a pick of questions for the week.

Which is the appropriate book on travel that you would suggest as a gift to a friend? -  Mihika Singh, Noida

The Tao of Travel by Paul Theroux is one book that you can gift. It has the excerpts of writings and thoughts by several travel writers. Theroux has compiled it in a great anthology. Take a look at it. Or you can also check A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush by Eric Newby.

Recommend some great books on eccentric literature; thank you. -  Nimisha Bora, New Delhi

You can check some writings out by Sue Townsend and Alexander McCall Smith. Townsend's The Adrian Mole series and McCall Smith's Corduroy Mansions are an eccentric and eccentric's delight.

Suggest some books by Indian journalists that I could read. - Adarsh Swamy, Coorg

You can begin with M.J Akbar's writings such as Blood Brothers and Byline.

Thank you for writing, folks.  Adios for now. Look forward to your email at ask@bookchums.com.
