Thank you for the questions this week. It’s nice to answer varied queries. Have a great time reading and do write.

Could you send me the titles of some quick reads – thrillers? - Nidhi K, Bangalore

Thank you for writing, Nidhi. Ruth Rendell’s psycho thrillers such as The Bridesmaid, The Killing Doll, and Adam and Eve and Pinch Me are really quick reads. Enjoy!

I need to read some plays by some Modernist playwrights/writers. Who all do I start from? - Apeksha Singh, Delhi

Thanks for writing. You can read Tennessee Williams’ plays such as A Streetcar named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Orpheus Descending and The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore among other plays. You could also refer to George Bernard Shaw’s plays such as Saint Joan, Candida, Arms and the Man, and The Philanderer among other plays. Hope these will help.

Please suggest some authors and books to read to my five-year old son. Vidhya K, Mysore

Vidhya, please look for books by Barbara Sleigh. Her books such as Carbonel: The King of the Cats, The Kingdom of Carbonel, Carbonel and Calidor and Winged Magic are truly wonderful. You could also try Enid Blyton’s books such as The Wishing Chair Again, Enid Blyton’s Goodnight Stories for Children and Naughty Amelia Jane are fun reads.

Adios for now. Look forward to your email at ask@bookchums.com.
